The Maltese Islands
Malta is an archipelago in the centre of the clear blue Mediterranean Sea, 93 km south of Sicily, east of Tunisia and north of Libya in Africa. The archilepago consists of Malta, Gozo and Comino being the largest islands and other small islands.

Gozo & Comino
Although Gozo is the sister island of Malta, with a population of approximately 30,000 people, it has a character quite distinct from Malta's. Tourists spending their holiday in Malta will find that an excursion to Gozo is more than worthwhile. The beautiful, tranquil island of Gozo is only a 25 minute ferry ride from Malta.

The Capital City
Valletta, 'a city by gentlemen for gentlemen' is the fortified capital city of Malta, a World Heritage site. Built by the Knights of St. John in the 1570's, on the northern half of the Sciberras peninsula, which separates the Grand Harbour from Marsamxett Harbour.

Climate
Maltese weather is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers. In January 2007, International Living chose Malta as the country with the best climate in the world.

Currency & Banks
Banking hours usually are between 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays; they are open until 11.30 a.m. on Saturdays. Foreign exchange facilities are available at the International Airport on a 24-hour basis all year round.
